Psychology Theory in Addiction Counselling Covers some of the commonly used therapeutic approached used in addiction counselling. Co-Occurring Disorders explores the common disorders associated with substance abuse, whether occurring in conjunction with addiction or induced by it. Crisis Intervention covers psychological care aimed at assisting individuals in a crisis situation to restore them to a functional state and reduce risks or potential for psychological trauma. Family Counselling deals with family issues through and after treatment of addiction. Helping the family to work through the damage caused by the addicts and the various dynamics involved. Lastly, Process and Behavioral Addictions explores process or behavioral addictions, those being addictions other than chemical addictions. e.g. sex, gambling, eating disorders and others.
